Hello 2015

Just like that, it's the end of the year. I read my friend, Etana’s review of her 2014 and I told her she had inspired me to write something. You may find nothing 'wowwy' in her story, but that's the whole point. It does not have to be loud to make all the difference.

Zara's Diary 4

For Zara's diary 3

Zara was doing everything to help her relationship grow, at least that is what she believed. She was spending more time than she usually would at Femi's. Somehow she believed the relationship would work better at way. She was practically living with him. The relationship did not seem to get better. Zara was frustrated and so was Femi. There were no butterflies. Just two people living in the same house, enduring the other's company. Zara wanted more though. Remember this is Zara's diary, so this is her side of the story. It may be that Femi was giving his all too or believed he was.

... Because Good morning is too mainstream

Good morning can get pretty normal. Saying it in another Nigerian language would make things different and probably strike a conversation. To add to that, you would be appreciating the diversity in Nigeria. Lets shake it up for shaking up sake. I asked some of my friends what good morning is in their languages and they responded. For what its worth i hope they all actually know what it actually is in their languages. Lol. Well here goes:

Zara's Diary 3

Zara left off at http://cutiediamond.blogspot.com/2014/09/zara-diary-2.html shes talking some more now.

Months passed by, Femi and Zara grew closer. To put it plainly, Femi and Zara were now dating. Clement, who was one of the HOX guys that had grown weak for Zara, felt a bit irked because he liked Zara and had been making plans to ask her out but alas he was tortoise, not a successful tortoise. Zara's office, Fabuleux, was opening a new branch in Kaduna. Zara had never been to Kaduna but she liked the thought of going there. Why? Femi worked in Kaduna. She'd have the opportunity to meet with him. Yes they had started dating but they hadn't met yet.

Zara's diary 2

Zara got added to HOX by Eunice. She barely said hi in the group before she heard her name called out in the office. Her boss needed her. For what?, she wondered, after all, he had loaded her desk with work fit for five people. Dropping her phone in her office drawer, she stood up and went to meet her boss.

In the deep......

I was wondering to myself, what should I do or anyone for that matter, when one feels down or feels like they are heading down into the dark deep. So I asked some of my friends what they do when they find themselves in this kind of situation. Find their answers below.

Zara's diary 1

Zara’s diary 1

.. The morning today feels and looks really beautiful, Zara was happy to go to work. On her way to work that day though, just in front of her office a little boy carrying a big tray of sachet water (what is called pure water in Nigeria) could not hold his balance anymore so he fell towards Zara. About 50% of the sachets broke and some of the water poured on Zara. She was angry within her but she also felt pity for the boy. So she just sighed and left. Luckily she had her small hand hair dryer, she went into her office bathroom and dried as much of herself as she could. While doing that though, she wished she had given the little boy some money for the sachets that broke. Poverty often left children little or no options than to hawk which was really dangerous. They could get bullied, they could get mixed up in the wrong crowd, and their goods could be stolen, amongst other things. Some of these kids became thieves out rightly, making them a menace to society. Sigh*. One day Zara thought, ‘I'd have an NGO, one that works at the grass root, one aimed at empowering and educating the masses. That should give better chances for the little sachet water boy to become more’.

Turn Back the Hands of Time

Our friend the Northern Lagosian is here with another of her written pieces. This time she is talking about what she could have done differently. Find her article below.

Choosing your addiction

As young people, we tend to want to dabble into any and everything. We often do this thinking we want to be free, have fun and live in the moment. We also feel that we have our whole lives ahead of us, so it's okay to do whatever we want to now and live right later on. The desire to be cooler than our peers is another reason young people get into unhealthy and unnecessary competition.

One of my friend was kind enough to share something she wrote. Read and enjoy.

DIY DOOR SIGN: No Shoes Pls

Yay! my first post. So, I decided that I didn't want shoes worn in the house any more and i started thinking of how to I pass the message to my 'housies' and lovely guests. Why not make a DIY door sign? And so on to make one I went.

What you need: Two different spray colours (i used purple and blue), spray glue (Elmer's mounting spray), scissors, cardboard paper (i used the pack of my hand drier), cling film and masking tape.

NOTE: The cardboard was sprayed with the purple spray and left for an hour to dry, it was resprayed again and left for another hour to dry. Spraying should be done in a well ventilated area. I made letters that read 'NO SHOES PLS' and fixed them on the cardboard using Elmer's mounting spray. Before affixing the letters align them on the base cardboard, so that you know the the right positioning.
